Not a standing, but a walking start
Twisting Tales was born out of hours of walking. Yes, walking! During our daily walk, we, Lisanne and Ilona, talk about anything and everything. As Lisanne is rather interested in handcrafting, the subject often turns to craft. She has told me many stories about wool, knitting, weaving, spinning, dyeing and traditions from all over the world. As her mother I encouraged her to share these stories, and so the idea of a magazine was born.
About Twisting Tales Magazine
After a half year of idea development and research, we went for it and started our mother-daughter business: Twisting Tales Magazine. Both because almost all textiles start with twist (without it, all you have are loose fibres), and because we love taking stories, traditions and techniques and putting our own twist on them. Ilona has her own PR- and marketing business and has developed all kinds of public relations material, both offline and online. In Twisting Tales Magazine, everything comes together. We hope you have as much fun reading it as we have in creating it.
Enhancing your knowledge
Our goal is not to provide you with patterns and tutorials, but to explore the knowledge behind them and guide you in creating your own. We believe that having more knowledge about a subject will increase the enjoyment you have in it. We wish to inspire you, to help you grow your skills and to challenge you to try new things. We also focus on sustainability in crafting, by helping you make conscious decisions and by offering ideas to use every last scrap of your materials. Our last goal is to provide you with some time for yourself: a little me-time to just enjoy reading the magazine.
Due in September
The first issue is due in September of this year and the second in March of next year. If you buy our magazine in print, you will automatically get access to the online magazine. Accessibility is very important to us, we want to make sure that everyone can enjoy our blogs and magazine. We take this into consideration when choosing fonts, designing our layouts and choosing our pictures, among other things. If you ever come across something that makes our site inaccessible or unpleasant to use, please do not hesitate to contact us, and we will try to remedy the problem as soon as we can.
Follow us on social media
In March of this year, we have slowly started posting our first messages on Facebook and Instagram. We will increase the number of social posts and blogs and start a newsletter before the publishing of our first magazine. For now, you can follow us on Instagram or Facebook to keep up to date with what’s happening at Twisting Tales. If you want to reach out to us, ask us a question, advertise in our new magazine of anything else, just send an email to email@twistingtalesmagazine.com
